3M is seeking Summer Temporary Production Helpers for the operations located in Wausau, WI. At 3M, you can apply your talent in bold ways that matter. Here, you go.

Job Summary:

The person hired for the position of Summer Temporary Production Helper will support general plant operations and clean up during the months of May through September. Work to be accident free. Observe all safety rules, policies, and precautions during the course of departmental operations. Report any unsafe work conditions. Support Wausau’s safety culture and initiatives.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Shovels and sweeps around conveyors, elevators, equipment and roofs

  • Operates equipment including moving hoses as required to guzzle materials

  • Handles heavy spouts, bags, hoses, screens in assigned areas

  • Provides coverage for other department jobs as needed

  • Responsible to fill in as Department Helper, Mixer Operator, Coloring Janitor, Tank Loader, Car Loader, Assistant Car Loader and Utility Laborer (Bagging)

  • Notifies supervisor if any equipment is not operating properly

  • Notifies supervisor of any upset conditions affecting quality of the granule product

  • Responsible for any and all miscellaneous duties as directed by the supervisor

  • Works from both written and verbal instructions

  • Works in areas where the environment may be either hot, cold, humid, dry, dusty or dirty

  • Handles, packages, labels or transports RCRA hazardous waste. Responds to hazardous waste spills

  • Meets all customer expectations

  • Completes required safety and regulatory training

  • Participates in daily tier meetings

  • Performa other related duties as required to promote team effort in achieving department objectives

  • Follows established departmental housekeeping, safety practices and SOPs

If business conditions change during the summer, 3M may end the summer employment. In addition, worker will not be guaranteed hours, departments of shift arrangements as these are subject to change.

This position will require:

  • Weekend work as needed

  • Working overtime as needed

  • Working holidays as needed

  • Short notice shift coverage as business needs occur

  • Working rotating shifts- 1st, 2nd or 3rd

  • Frequent physical demands including lifting up to 50lbs

  • Exposure to extreme temperatures

Basic Qualifications:

  • Possess a High School Diploma/GED or higher

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a manufacturing/production environment

  • Students enrolled in post-secondary education due to the temporary nature of this position during summer months

Location: Wausau, Wisconsin
