Job Purpose

The Insurance Canada Processing Centre Analyst is responsible for providing administrative and support within the Insurance Canada Processing Centre. To do so, the incumbent will ensure that daily and periodic administrative functions are completed in a timely and accurate manner.

Key Accountabilities

  1. Provide processing support by:
  • Accurately processing daily assigned functions which may include preparing returned mail for distribution, completing reports, compiling credit card account statements, vetting of incoming requests, and scanning of documents to applicable systems

  • Maintaining a thorough knowledge of the systems used and relevant procedures and processes

  • Reviewing incoming requests from supported units and distribute to appropriate processing queues

  • Accurately updating information and data on various systems, applications and databases

  • Preparing returned mail for redistribution

  • Preparing required documentation within defined authorities

  • Ensuring the identification and escalation of non-standard requests

  • Preparing and/or checking reports or returns as assigned

  • Supporting the implementation of required changes (e.g. policy, process, systems)

  • Perform related sundry duties as assigned

  1. Adhering to established Bank regulations and procedures within assigned authority and responsibility
  • Reporting any unusual occurrences or fraudulent activity to the supervisor.

  • Escalating any problems or issues to the supervisor with recommendations where appropriate

  • Completing all required training & complying with requirements (e.g. Anti Money Laundering, Guidelines for Business Conduct)

Skills, Experience and Functional Competenies

To be successful in this position, the incumbent requires the following skills:

  • Thorough knowledge of policies and procedures regarding creditor insurance products, programs and procedures

  • Working knowledge of PC skills using common software tools to access and communicate within the bank (Microsoft Access/ Word/Excel and Lotus Notes

  • Working knowledge of the bank systems and stand alone systems used by the ICPC and CMU (i.e. AS400, CIS, TLS, KS)

  • Thorough knowledge of bank regulations, policies, procedures and operations

  • Thorough knowledge of Scotiabank values and Complaint Resolution Standards and Procedures

Education and Other Requirments

N/A but an applicant seeking experience in the financial industry would be suitable
