Princess Cruises/Cunard – We are currently searching for 6 highly motivated Graduate and Undergraduate student interns to join our dynamic Public Relations departments. The selected interns will work on departmental projects as well as participate in professional development and enrichment activities.

DATES

  • Program runs 10 weeks from June 11th - August 17th or June 18th - August 24th. (Please note, END dates can be extended depending on department needs and students availability.)

ELIGIBILITY

  • Must be currently enrolled as an under graduate (junior standing or above) or graduate student with a minimum 3.0 GPA or higher (will require transcripts) in a four year accredited College/University.

  • MUST NOT be a graduating senior in the summer.

  • Students under OPT and CPT status will not be considered.

PROJECT(S)

  • Content Strategy and Social Media – Analyze and evaluate the performance of the brand’s video content.Develop an excel analytics dashboard for branded video content. Assess key performance metrics sourced from YouTube, then customizing the analytics dashboard to best display those metrics.Additional support in content best practices competitive research on, project story-mapping, and TV/film partnership evaluation. Provide real-world experience using data to impact business decisions, preparing the intern for an analyst role post-college. Will build experience collaborating with and presenting to internal colleagues.

  • Social Media - Curate social media assets and analyze social media conversations about the brand in support of the Princess Cruises social media content strategy and listening. Write copy for both B2C and B2B social media channels. Aggregate and organize UGC assets. Weekly analysis of forum conversation. Will gain a deep understanding of many aspects of Princess (including our destinations, onboard offerings and marketing approach) while developing copy and content promoting the brand.Additionally, will build their ability to communicate both internally and externally, while analyzing social conversation surrounding our brand.

  • PR Archive / Historical Data & Measurement - Identify, catalog, and archive pertinent historical documents, media files, books, and historical materials pertinent to the history and story of Princess Cruises. Assist with important brand milestones whether that is a new ship launch or our next significant anniversary. Will learn and gain knowledge of our product, history, and enhance their skills in PR which includes the requirement of historical and current knowledge of our product as well as media relations and customer service skills.

  • Media Relations - Plan, execution and evaluate two media events during summer of 2018. Under the supervision and guidance of the Media Relations Specialist, the intern will work on the media component of both Shark Week 30th Anniversary and the reveal of the new SHARE by Curtis Stone menu. These events will aim to generate news coverage for Princess partnerships with both Discovery and Curtis Stone, with a specific intern focus of pre-event media list development and pitching, and post-event coverage analysis and reporting.Will also support the Media Relations specialist by assisting in day-to-day tasks including responding to media requests for imagery and basic ship/brand information, working with the team’s PR agency on planning and review of media lists, press release writing, and ad-hoc coverage reports for current initiatives.

  • Cunard PR/Marketing - Support PR and marketing teams with creative promotional ideas, and research activities and press initiatives for Queen Mary 2, Queen Elizabeth and Queen Victoria.Collaborate with PR team and PR agency on vetting of high-profile personalities to join Insights programmed and other on board programming/entertainment.Assist PR Director, Specialist and PR firm on day-to-day activities including database management, research, press release distribution, project management, in-port function logistics, media queries, press FAM coordination, copy writing/proofing, maintenance of Master PR calendar, concession tracking documents. Participate w PR, Sales and Marketing teams on B2B development, including idea development for hands-on experience w the PR and Marketing aspects of Cunard North America, and interface with a variety of internal and external constituents.

  • Cunard PR Sales/Marketing - To further develop Cunard marketing communication and training tools to our Business Development Managers and travel agents. Will assist in many capacities, from strategizing to tactical implementation. Will be responsible for creative input, along with production and administration of materials, and other functions associated with coordination of material distribution and events. May also be involved in social media strategies and maintenance of the Sales Facebook page, along with creative writing for video scripts and posts. Will be exposed to several aspects of selling the Cunard product. They will be involved in marketing, public relations, sales and revenue planning processes and will therefore gain a well-rounded knowledge of the business.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Well organized and able to communicate effectively with colleagues and managers. Will be responsible to find your own lodging and must be willing to find reliable transportation to Santa Clarita. (Note: This is a suburb of Los Angeles. Public transportation is available but is limited.)

  • Must be authorized to work for all employers in the US.

COMPENSATION

  • Paid hourly; $18.00/hr. Undergraduate Students and $30.00/hr. Graduate Students.

DEPARTMENTS

  • May include but not limited to:Public Relations, and Cunard Public Relations & Marketing/Sales.

MAJORS PREFERRED

  • Business Administration, Communications, Marketing, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, International Business, English and MBA’s.

SKILLS PREFERRED

  • Advance proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs, especially MS Word/Excel, MS PowerPoint and MS Access.

  • Additional experience in Google Analytics and Adwords preferred.

  • Knowledge of key social media platforms (i.e. Instagram, Twitter, Facebook) and Basic graphic design and/or photo editing skills are a plus.

  • Depending on type of position, other specific programs may be required.
