Camp Mendocino is a residential summer camp located in Northern California. All Camp Employees are expected to live, sleep and work at Camp from June 11th to August 6th. Camp Mendocino provides meals and lodging for the duration of the employment period. Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco (BGCSF) is dedicated to providing children and teens with safe, fun places to learn and grow, with professional staff to offer support and guidance, serving as caring mentors and role models. One aspect of Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco's programs is Camp Mendocino our residential summer camp. Camp Mendocino is a nationally recognized program where staff members work with youth ages eight to 17 of all backgrounds to help them gain the qualities and skills needed to become responsible citizens and leaders.
Camp is located four hours north of San Francisco and spread over 2,000 acres. We provide transportation between San Francisco and Camp at the start and end of the summer. We offer a wide range of activities at Camp including: swimming, a three part challenge course, mountain biking, archery, dance and drama, arts and crafts, environmental education, sports, over night camping, and much more!

The Camp Maintenance/Driver position transports campers and staff as needed, which can vary in frequency. This position is responsible for safely transporting Camp staff and campers to a multitude of locations. While not driving the this person operates as a part of the maintenance team, including responsibilities such as: repairing camp facilities, grounds-keeping, paining, carpentry, laundry, dining hall cleanup, dish washing, chopping wood, plumbing, trash pickups etc. This is a critical part of the position and all candidates should make sure they fully understand these responsibilities. Key Responsibilities:
Drive Camp vehicles to transport staff and campers as needed to hospitals, pickups, or home Complete required paperwork for all trips
Adherence to all driving regulations, vehicle cleanliness standards and maintenance
Respectful communication with campers, staff, parents, families, and guests
When not driving, provide support to all areas and departments at Camp including dish washing, trash pick-up and disposal, painting, carpentry, plumbing, chopping wood etc.
Other duties as assigned
Valid Class B driver's license
Clean driving record
Ability to drive for 4+ hours without breaks
Ability to drive at night when needed
Have a working cell phone
Honesty and accountability
Good communication skills
Ability to work with youth and coworkers in a positive manner
Experience in general handyman work
Basic understanding of working with tools
Must be able to lift at least 50lbs.
Must be able to walk on uneven terrain for at least 3 miles
Must be able to be stand for 8 hours (with breaks)
Must be able to sit for long periods of time
Able to see clearly during the day and night
Able to see, read and understand road signs
Able to physically operate a motor vehicle
Must be able to work in temperatures ranging from 30° to 100°
