Essex Property Trust Summer Associate, Ancillary Income in San Mateo, California

We are proud to offer an amazing 8- to 10-week, paid internship opportunity to highly motivated under-graduate and post-graduate students interested in learning how an industry leader operates and makes sound decisions everyday. You will work projects focused on reviewing and compiling data on current business practices as well researching new revenue sources. Not only will you spend time at our Corporate Headquarters being trained directly by our Director of Business Development and Ancillary Revenue, you will also spend considerable time visiting our properties as well as our competitors in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Your duties will include the following:

  • Inventory: Physical counting and photographing of parking and storage assets at assigned Essex properties.

  • Process Review / Audit: Collecting current and historical information on how each Essex property manage these products. Ensuring accuracy of data in our system.

  • Market Research: Research competitor practices and prices for similar products. Identify current and upcoming trends.

  • New Revenue Sources: Researching, analyzing and recommending new potential sources of revenue.

  • Currently attending college or university, either at under- or post-graduate level - preferably in a Real Estate Development, Finance, Business, or Marketing disciplines.

  • Must be able to work 8 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday throughout an 8- or 10- week internship program.

  • Must have strong communication, organizational and multi-tasking skills.

  • Must be detail-oriented and have excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Intermediate proficiency in MS Office suite, especially Excel.

  • Reliable transportation is required as some tasks will be located offsite at our communities.

A valid driver’s license and current automobile insurance is required.
