IDEAS Center Summer Internship*
As part of Suez in North America – Water Technology & Solutions, the Innovation, Development & Advanced Services (IDEAS) Center focusing on research and development of new and innovative water/wastewater treatment solutions, is currently seeking a qualified candidate to fill their Summer Internship position. The Summer Intern will work in different areas of the IDEAS Center including laboratory analyses, bench-scale testing, research and development studies and potentially piloting studies. Under the direction of senior personnel (engineers, researchers, and process chemists) the qualified applicant will provide functional and technical assistance in the laboratory including performing chemical and biological analyses, conducting research both in the laboratory and field, set up and execution of sampling and testing programs, applies knowledge of principles and practices of chemistry, biology, microbiology and mathematics required in an analytical laboratory setting, use standard good laboratory practices and QA/QC procedures, and other applicable standards to collect and analyze samples of water, wastewater, and industrial process water for a variety of environmental test conditions.
Tasks & Responsibilities:*
Perform wet chemistry analyses including colorimetric, titrations, and gravimetric analyses; instrumental analysis via UV/VIS, ICP, TOC, GC, GC/MS, IC, Lachat Flow Analyzer, and AFS;
Provide analytical support for business groups including sales & marketing and research & development;
Maintain all laboratory operations in accordance to the quality assurance plan;
Prepare and write technical papers and reports.
Responsible for performing basic and instrumental laboratory analyses as associated with water and wastewater treatment;
Wet chemistry analyses including colorimetric, titrations, gravimetric, and microbial analysis;
Perform proper maintenance and calibration procedures for analytical instrumentation;
Adheres to all SUEZ Water Technology & Solutions (WTS) safety requirements and procedures;
Requirements of the Position:*
Basic understanding & working knowledge of applicable instrumentation & Standard EPA methodologies related to water and wastewater treatment;
Proficiency in both verbal and written communication, inclusive of working knowledge of Microsoft Office (MS Office) tools.
