HarperCollins Publishers Summer Internship 2018 - William Morrow Editorial in New York, New York

HarperCollins is currently seeking a summer intern to assist a group of nonfiction editors in the William Morrow imprint. One of the industry’s premier fiction and nonfiction publishers, William Morrow is home to bestselling and award-winning authors such as Neil Gaiman, Ray Bradbury, Patricia Cornwell, Deborah Crombie, Diane Mott Davidson, Bret Baier, Elizabeth Peters, Peter Robinson, James Rollins, Neal Stephenson, Bruce Feiler, Chris Kyle, Al Roker, DL Hughley, Joy-Ann Reid, Steven Levitt and Stephen J. Dubner, and Ree Drummond, just to name a few!

This summer internship is a paid opportunity (28 hours per week), and it will run from June 11 through August 16 for a total of 10 weeks.

  • Complete reader's reports on select manuscript submissions.

  • Draft jacket copy.

  • Manage book shipments to authors and agents.

  • Attend internal and external meetings with authors and potential authors.

  • Review platforms of successful authors in various categories of narrative and practical nonfiction.

  • Routine filing, mailings, and other administrative tasks.

  • Applicants must be at least entering their junior year of college

  • Applicants going into their senior year of college, grad students, or college graduates preferred

  • Must be proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite

  • Strong analytical reading and writing skills

  • Strong communication skills

  • Is detail-oriented and organized

  • Ability to juggle multiple projects

  • Interest in working on a primarily nonfiction list
