Posting Summary

School of Arts and Sciences Summer Camp is seeking junior counselors to assist with the following:

  • Supports the lead camp counselors in planning daily activities and carrying out the daily responsibilities of caring for and supervising school-aged children engaged in summer camp activities.

  • Works under the direct supervision of an adult counselor (18>years).

  • In addition to assisting in the welfare, health and safety of all children at the camp, will be responsible for helping to set up camp and will be responsible for properly maintaining camp equipment and space.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience

For entry-level positions, no experience is required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Must be a minimum of 16 years of age. Minimum 1 year of experience working in a summer camp setting or equivalent experience with working with school-aged children.

  • Successful applicant must provide appropriate working papers for employment of minors.

  • Successful applicant must provide written health statement and copy of up-to-date vaccination record.

  • Must be able to swim.

  • Must be able to attend weekly field trips and participate in all camp activities.

  • Must be available to work the entire 10 week camp session.

Preferred Qualifications

First Aid and CPR certification preferred, but not required

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Must be able to swim. Camp activities are implemented indoors and outdoors, even in hot weather. Weekly field trips off-campus. Setting up camp grounds and space requires lifting and moving furniture and materials of up to 35 pounds.
