Purchasing Program Summer Intern
Tenneco is seeking a driven, self-motivated student who has an interest in gaining hands-on experience in the area of Program Purchasing, while working at our location in Monroe, Michigan beginning in May 2018.
You will be responsible for supporting Purchasing Program Buyers: including requests for quotation, PPAP request, new product launch development activities, supporting early supplier involvement, and coordinating supplier launch activities.
Support prototype purchasing project.
General Administrative support for Program Purchasing as required.
Participate in and negotiate technical and/or supply agreements with suppliers in "early supplier involvement" to ensure Tenneco designs and developed technology is protected.
Support improvement of supplier launch procedures to minimize inventory obsolescence and support lean manufacturing needs in alignment with operational expectations.
Communicate with the business units.
Communicate with external suppliers through emails and phone calls.
Must be able to work independently and in a Team based environment.
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
Effective time management skills.
Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
Student currently enrolled and pursuing an undergraduate degree in Business or Supply Chain Mgmt.
Student with a minimum overall cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Ability to work at least 30 hours per week during the internship period
