Manufacturing Summer Student Positions - Various

Reporting to the Operations Management team, Summer Students will support Cheque Manufacturing functions in one of Retail/Pocket Bindery, Business Bindery, Warehouse, or Order Sort/Assured Delivery roles. Safety Shoes are a mandatory requirement and management reserves the right to test for physical abilities. Positions are available in day and afternoon shifts.

Please note:

This position requires the Summer Student to work from their start date to August 31. If you are available to work into September, please let us know as we may be able to provide additional weeks.

Summer Students are not to take consecutive vacation days since their position is intended to provide vacation coverage. Occasional day off requests will be granted based on business need. Summer Students must receive written approval from their Manager/Team Lead prior to taking the day off. Failure to receive written approval can result in the termination of the Summer Student’s contract.

Business Bindery Operator (6 day shift, 6 afternoon shift)

  • Primary task is the packaging and finishing of orders

  • Other tasks are stitching and quality control

  • Must be physically fit to lift a minimum of 20 lbs.

APS/Pocket Bindery Operator (3 day shift, 2 afternoon shift)

  • Primary task is mail sort

  • Other tasks include quality control

  • Repetitive lifting of letter containers

Warehouse (2 day shift, 2 afternoon shift)

  • General warehouse duties

  • Operate electric walkies and pallet trucks including use of skid moving equipment

  • Replenishment of stock in all areas

  • Report any stock outs or potential stock outs to Materials Manager

  • Other duties as assigned

Order Entry/Assured Delivery (1 day shift)

  • Sorting of faxed images (use of computer required)

  • Sorting of orders by product

  • Attention to detail

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • Some post secondary education

  • Experience in customer focused environment

  • General labour experience an asset

  • Dependable and punctual

  • Attention to detail

  • Sense of urgency

  • Team Player

  • Depending on role:

  • Basic computer skills and/or

  • Ability to lift up to 20 kgs and/or

  • Use of skid moving equipment
