Forward Service Corporation, a passionate, not-for-profit firm providing employment and training related services to local, state, and federally funded program participants, is seeking a full time Upward Bound Math/Science Instructor for the Upward Bound Madison program. The home office of this position is located in Madison East High School, WI. The Upward Bound Program is life changing for participants who are low-income, first generation college-bound students. The Upward Bound Instructor is primarily responsible for conducting weekly visitations with participants in each target high school focused on academic tutoring, study skills, social skills, career exploration, financial aid and post-secondary enrollment. They assist the advisor in giving informative presentations to potential participants and their parents, school staff, and relevant community organizations regarding the program and participant eligibility. The Upward Bound Instructor is a rewarding position that facilitates qualifying high school students to be successful college graduates. The instructor provides services though the academic year and summer school program in accordance with our Upward Bound (UB) grant proposal. The instructor help program participants to independence, to promote self-sufficiency and to help to unleash their potential! PRIMARY DUTIES INCLUDE Conduct the UB program in compliance with TRIO regulations and legislation, EDGAR, OMB Circulars, Grand Application, Annual Performance Report, and the approved UB proposal, to meet or exceed performance objectives. Conduct weekly visitations with participants. Assist with recruitment and selection of program participants Assist advisor to give informative presentations Develop and maintain a positive work relationships with guidance counselor staff, administration, support staff and teachers Assist with planning and executing of campus, cultural, business, industry, and academic field trips Assist with arrangements for a five-week on-campus summer school program for approximately 30 participants including the contract with a school campus for rooms, food, computer use, library use, and other extra activities Help develop and implement a theme-based summer curriculum in Spanish, English, Science, and Math ***** OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
