Position Overview: Molex is seeking a dynamic and proactive Mechanical Test Engineer who, with minimal supervision coordinates and/or performs standard and complex tests, analyses, and evaluations on Molex products. Tests range from customer requests to industry standards, including but not limited to mechanical durability (flex, pull, retention, torsion) and environmental (temperature, thermal shock, temperature rise, mixed flowing gas). Essential Functions: Performs product evaluation and performance analysis. Utilizing standard departmental procedures, develops and modifies product test plans to establish performance and reliability of the products being tested.Conducts standard and advanced failure analysis. Prepares detailed test reports as required that may include statistical analysis, observations, executive summary, detailed test data, detailed experimental procedures, equipment, and specimen detail. Evaluates results and provides corrective actions or recommendations.Helps in creation, standardization, and maintenance of internal test procedures. Supports the design of test procedures and test fixtures as required.Works with design teams (high-speed cable or connector) to develop design verification plans (DVP).Coordinates execution of DVPs in a timely manner. This may include submitting and following up on test requests to internal labs for testing. May also include performing actual testing based on ability and equipment availability. In this role you will have the opportunity to work with highly dedicated professionals at Molex assisting the engineering department with coordinating, building, documenting and inventory of test samples, test requests; and initial sample preparations for EV, DV, and PV level testing. You will be a back-up crimp operator and perform standard testing on Molex products for reliability prior to their release and also to perform annual validation testing. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1.Maintains engineering inventory system, including: verification and documentation of incoming materials, daily quantity and content updates to inventory report, documenting and pulling inventory for sample requests, and tracking time usage by program and request.2.Identifies and communicates to appropriate engineer any form, fit, and function anomalies found with incoming materials or during sample builds.3.Aids in the development and continuous improvement of procedures for sample preparation, test set-up, and testing.4.Aids in advanced planning and coordinating of materials acquisition and test sample builds.5.Aids in retrieving historical and traceability information for sample requests, specific builds, and inventoried materials .6.Oversees additional personnel when required for large sample builds and emergencies.7.Back-up operator for crimping operation, supports crimp requests during absence of primary operator and as needed for work overflow.8. Sets up and operates standard and custom test equipment and chambers. Includes equipment such as microscopes, Instron type force equipment, various electrical parameter measuring devices, temperature/humidity chambers, etc.9.Set up test boards and samples for electrical and environmental tests.10.Perform mechanical tests (e.g. insertion/extraction).11.Assist in resolving test problems, when necessary.12.Communicate with Product Engineer on testing issues.13.Understand, support, and contribute to Molex Total Quality Management (TQM), Quality (QS9000), and Environmental Management (ISO14000) Systems by following approved policies and procedures.14.Perform other related duties as assigned.Job Number:5412BRCareer Field:EngineeringPosition Qualifications:EDUCATIONHigh School Diploma or equivalent.
