GKN Aerospace Cromwell was established in 2003. Our site specializes in the design and manufacture of composite assemblies for both military and commercial applications using innovative and cutting edge technologies.

Role Purpose

Interns at GKN Cromwell are considered to be an integral part of the staff and are provided with tasks that are both technically challenging and educationally stimulating. The Continuous Improvement department is seeking an intern with strong organizational and data management skills to assist with implementing, training, and documenting lean process management practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support training documentation and scheduling of training sessions.

  • Assemble CI data, reporting and project tracking information.

  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with both internal and external customers that will help facilitate effective communication of business needs.

  • Interface with other internal organizations such as manufacturing, product support and purchasing, as well as suppliers.

  • Participate in special projects as required

Qualification & Skills

Educational Requirements

  • Must be a currently enrolled Junior or Senior majoring in Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering Management, Industrial Engineering or a similar field.

  • Must have a 3.0 GPA or higher.

  • Must be able to work 40 hours per week

  • Experience in a Manufacturing or Factory Environment is preferred, but not required.

  • Aerospace experience preferred, but not required.


  • MUST BE U.S Citizen or Permanent Resident.

  • Strong written, verbal, analytical, and interpersonal skills required.

  • Ability to apply statistical analysis, data management and research

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, VISIO)

  • Must display maturity and a high level of professionalism.

  • Demonstrates acceptance of responsibility

  • Shows pride in work performed.

  • Demonstrates flexibility in acceptance of assignments and schedules

  • Ability to influence decision-making.

  • Organizational skills and ability to multitask (work on several projects at once).

  • Green Belt/Black Belt Certification a plus
