The Role: Xylem seeks to hire a Marketing Intern to join its Americas Water Utilities Vertical Marketing team for summer 2018. The Water Utilities market is well established, and presents an even greater opportunity for growth for Xylem as we have recently combined all of Xylem’s resources and portfolio as one America’s Water Utilities commercial team. This role will have the unique opportunity to be exposed to researching the needs of our customers, analyzing growth opportunities and driving demand in these critical markets.

You will be assigned specific projects which are designed to add value to the organization while providing real world experience. While receiving mentoring and guidance, working with the Water Utilities Marketing Vertical team members on the growth initiatives.
Conduct research to validate specific market segments and sub segments as detailed in the marketing plan, including market size, growth rate, competitors, product portfolio, and market drivers.
Research key competitors to create a holistic view of how they are positioning in the Water Utilities space, where they are placing their marketing investments, and how this could impact Xylem.
Conduct voice of customer (VOC) activities to more closely understand specific Water Utilities customer decision makers (i.e. engineering consultants), their communication preferences, and how we could increase their specification of Xylem products and services (this could include interviewing experts, conducting desk research and potentially visiting existing customers).
Assess our key channel partners’ digital connections with Xylem (i.e. how they represent our brand on their web properties, invest in search, promote us on social media, etc.) and provide actionable guidance for expanding their reach to drive demand and sell more with us.
Currently attending an accredited University studying toward a Masters degree in Marketing/Business Administration.
A strong sense of ownership and drive; a self-starter
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and is comfortable engaging others and asking questions
Good technical and organizational skills
The ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
An understanding of marketing technology or digital asset management is a plus
Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
