/Risk Policy Analysis Unit - Summer Internship/

The Federal Reserve Bank of Boston seeks an exceptional, enthusiastic coop to assist with projects related to the asset management industry’s products and activities. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, comfortable working relatively independently, and able to navigate some ambiguity. The candidate will be comfortable working with large volumes of data, including collecting (by hand in some instances) such data and synthesizing them. A basic understanding of the asset management industry and products (e.g., equities, fixed income, and derivatives) is highly desired. Programming skills are a plus.

Primary Responsibilities: •Quickly gain a baseline understanding of the certain asset management products and activities, including, but not limited, mutual funds, Exchange Traded Funds, securities lending transactions, etc. •Perform data analysis on certain asset management products, industry trends, including, but not limited to, assets under management, yield, and portfolio composition trends. •Assist in preparing presentation materials and analysis for meetings with senior management. •Stay abreast of, and provide succinct summaries of, recent industry events. •Assist with longer term research efforts in the asset management space by providing excellent support in compiling and reviewing large volumes of data from financial statements or other sources.

Qualifications: •Progress towards an undergraduate degree in business, finance or economics. •Proficient in Microsoft products, particularly Excel and Word. •Basic to intermediate understanding of financial markets and instruments. •Basic to intermediate understanding of fixed income valuation, including familiarity with concepts such as portfolio duration and convexity, and derivatives. •Basic financial analysis skills. •Highly organized and able to work with large volumes of data. •Familiarity with statistical packages and Bloomberg desirable
