30Manage summer staff (ANSEP Youth Peer Mentors and Lead Youth Peer Mentors) of 30+. Develop and manage schedule for staff and prioritize and address staff issues and concerns. Approve staff timesheets.Essential
ANSEP Director of Summer Programs will be responsible for planning and managing day-to-day operations during all ANSEP summer components including: Middle School Academy, Acceleration Academy and Summer Bridge. The ANSEP summer component units are moderate in size and complex in scope.
ANSEP Director of Summer Programs will be responsible for managing day-to-day operations during all ANSEP summer components including: Middle School Academy, Acceleration Academy and Summer Bridge. As a residential program, this position will require on call hours.
ANSEP components provide students with a living and learning environment that supports the academic summer experience. The opportunities we offer are designed to enhance students' educational experiences and provide the framework for active participation as a team member.
Summer Bridge is aimed at recent high school graduates who will be attending the University of Alaska (UA) in the fall. During Summer Bridge students take college level math courses preparing them for University level math at UA and work a professional internship with one of ANSEP's partner organizations.
Acceleration Academy is targeted at high school freshmen, sophomores and juniors. The Acceleration Academy provides an opportunity for students to accelerate their academic progress so they are more than ready for college. These students will live on campus for two 5-week sessions while enrolling in college level math, science or engineering courses. Acceleration Academy students will also engage in hands on science and engineering activities and projects.
Middle School Academy is directed towards underrepresented/under-served students who will be entering 6th, 7th, or 8th grades the fall after camp. It's a two-week, academic, residential camp that emphasizes increasing students' mathematics and science skills while introducing them to college life and stimulating their interest in science and engineering as a potential career path.
Knowledge of relational databases and computer operations. Knowledge of, and the ability to interpret and apply rules, regulations, processes, policies, and procedures related to higher education and student development. Ability to supervise and manage a large team of 30+ temporary staff members. Ability to develop and recommend changes. Ability to determine appropriateness of exception requests. Knowledge of or experience working with youth and/or residential programs.
