National Grid Summer Intern Program, Civil Engineering, Syracuse in Syracuse, New York

About the Position:
Internship Opportunities

National Grid is pleased to offer PAID internships starting May 2018 ending in August 2018 for current college students seeking to gain experience with a world-class organization. Potential participating departments include but are not limited to:

Substation Civil/ Structural Engineering
- Perform substation design tasks encompassing functional layouts, material take offs, cost estimating, and bid document preparation for projects.

Transmission Line Engineering
- Perform engineering and design functions in accordance with National Grid's work plan, which includes removal and maintenance of the electric overhead transmission lines.

Substation Engineering & Design
- Works on projects ranging from equipment damage failures, station rebuilds and expansion, to new Greenfield projects. Work to develop below grade and above grade structures to support electrical equipment to assure safe and reliable power for customers.

These positions may be located in New England (Massachusetts & Rhode Island), Downstate New York (Long Island & Brooklyn) or Upstate New York (Syracuse, Albany & Buffalo).

Once selected for an internship, you will participate in a broad range of meaningful work experiences that are related to your interest and field of study. Interns will have the opportunity to attend an interactive orientation within the first weeks of hire and participate in networking sessions and lunch & learns with company executives and other interns, as well as volunteer in a community-based event.

Responsibilities will vary based upon your course of study and your assigned business. The successful candidate must be pursuing a college degree and possess excellent problem solving, organizational, and analytical skills, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word. Knowledge & Experience Required:

Qualifications for our internship program include:
* 3.0 Cumulative GPA for Undergraduate Students
* 3.2 Cumulative GPA for Graduate Students
* Applicant must have accumulated 18 or more credits and be 18 years of age
* Authorized to work in the United States for the entire duration of the internship
* Registered in school as a full time student
