Generally, AREVA Fuel Engineering will directly support the reactor core design needs for US Region Light Water Reactor PWR commercial operation. AREVA Fuel Engineering will provide the leading support and coordination for reactor core fuel management development, design, licensing, safety analysis, and methods development required to support any commercial PWR reactor design. Neutronics Lynchburg performs a full range of neutronics, fuel management studies and supports the thermal-hydraulic, thermo-mechanical, mechanical, and safety analysis of the fuel and core design. Neutronics Lynchburg represents an international design team within the AREVA corporate team.

  • Job Description: *

AREVA is seeking PWR Neutronics Interns for our Old Forest Road location in Lynchburg, VA.This temporary position in FDN-AL includes working with engineering staff to support engineering studies in support of reload analyses and special contracts with US customers. It also may involve the support of the computer codes and automation tools relating to the performance of engineering work.

  • Responsibilities and duties may include: *

  • Performance of engineering calculations using standard engineering computer codes.

  • Preparation of documentation supporting engineering studies.

  • Creation or modification of automation codes supporting engineering calculations.

  • Enhancement to the computing infrastructure (machines, storage, networks) to support engineering work under the guidance of the Linux Administrator.

  • All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for this opportunity. Candidates who exceed minimum qualifications may be considered for a higher level position. *

  • Minimum: Completed 4 semesters of engineering education.

  • Junior or Senior enrolled in a BS program.

  • Ability to participate in the AREVA Summer Internship Program which starts May 29, 2018.

  • The following requirements are desired and will be used to differentiate all candidates who apply for this position. *

  • Nuclear Engineering major preferred. Mechanical or Computer Engineering majors also considered.

  • Programming skills in FORTRAN, C, Python, or C .

  • Familiarity with Linux.

  • Completed Nuclear Engineering courses.
