This position is for an experienced systems engineer eager to play an integral role on the Systems Engineering team for Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Online (WDPRO). Primary responsibilities include designing, building, and supporting web application systems for a large scale enterprise production environment that hosts a variety of online properties for The Walt Disney Company.
The Systems Engineer is expected to have expert level systems administration skills on both the Linux and Windows server platforms, and must have extensive experience with Apache, IIS, and Tomcat. This position will focus on systems and application stability, security, performance, and capacity management, as well as documentation. The role requires participating in an on-call support rotation.
This position works closely WDPRO Engineering and Production teams across the world (Los Angeles, Orlando, Seattle, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Paris) to gather requirements, troubleshoot issues, and provide stellar customer support. The role requires someone who is creative, proactive, constructive, and highly motivated. The Senior SE must be prepared to work in an extremely collaborative and high energy environment.

Implementing systems and integrating technologies in order to effectively and efficiently host commerce, marketing and interactive websites and applications.
Systems Administration – Maintenance and Support of Systems, Applications, Software Releases and Troubleshooting
Basic Qualifications :
What we are looking for…
Responsible for showing expert proficiency in the development, implementation, and administration of systems with enterprise-wide focus (e.g. a mission-critical/high traffic and revenue generating commerce site).
Proven technical expert in relevant state of the art technologies and systems, accompanied with expert systems design understanding.
Leads small projects involving a variety of internal and external teams, coordinating with several teams through all phases of planning and execution.
Typically has 4 or more years experience with relevant internet technologies and with implementing, administering, and supporting production websites and backend support systems.
Spends a significant amount of time dealing with system architecture design and review, capacity planning, monitoring design and refinement, as well as researching solutions to existing problems and new ideas.
Must be able to demonstrate detailed technical knowledge in all of the following areas:
Windows and Linux server administration experience required. Expertise in system installation, configuration, administration, troubleshooting, performance tuning, preventative maintenance, capacity planning, monitoring, and security procedures.
Web server (e.g. IIS, Apache, IHS) and application server (e.g. Tomcat, WebSphere, JBoss, PHP) expertise required, including installation, administration, configuration, troubleshooting, performance tuning, preventative maintenance, capacity planning, monitoring, and security procedures.
Content management systems and publishing systems experience preferred but not required.
Database Administration – setup, configuration and basic database troubleshooting skills.
Understanding of internet standards such as HTTP, DNS, FTP, SSH, HTML, XML, JDBC, SNMP and other protocols.
IP communication and packet structure, with focus on HTTP protocol and experience with network protocol analyzers.
Experience hardening and maintaining secure systems (Visa CISP or PCI experience a plus!)
Network hardware architecting including experience with load balancing equipment, switches, routers, and network troubleshooting.
Hardware systems design and implementation, cluster management, implementing redundancy and testing failover, etc.
Expert use of monitoring and troubleshooting utilities to effectively diagnose problems.
Storage (SAN, NAS, etc).

Required Education :
Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university and taking at least one class, or be a recent graduate of an accredited college or university within the last six (6) months at time of application, or be currently participating in the Disney College Program, Disney Culinary Program or Disney Professional Internship Program.
Currently pursuing or recently graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science or related field or equivalent experience in technical operations or software engineering

Additional Information :
The approximate dates of this internship are May/June 2018 through August 2018
Candidate must be available to work full time hours (approximately 40 hours per week) for the duration of the internship
Able to provide own housing and transportation in the Seattle area
Must not have completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program
Must possess unrestricted work authorization
Must be at least 18 years of age
