LORAM Maintenance of Way Inc Manufacturing Engineer Intern - Summer 2018 in Hamel, Minnesota

SUMMARY: Provides assistance to the Manufacturing Engineers by providing consistent communication between the shop floor and engineering. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 1. Maintain and update Work Order (WO) packets and drawings. 2. Respond to assembly issues on the shop floor, resolve issues with Engineering and redline drawings and/or Bills of Materials (BOM). 3. Coordinate and maintain active logs of project data. 4. Create mfg. documents to aid in communicating work instructions 5. Monitor manufacturing activities for accurate data reporting and productivity. 6. Analyze shop activities to determine inefficiencies while providing suggestions for alternative processes. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree (BS) from a four-year college or university; or currently in process of attaining. Field of degree must be in Engineering (mechanical or electrical preferred). LANGUAGE SKILLS: Strong written and verbal communication skills required for interaction with manufacturing personnel, engineering and management. Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical information. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to apply mid-level mathematical concepts such as exponents, geometry, algebra and trigonometry. Able to calculate cost justifications for various projects and associated process improvements.
