Summer Intern - RFID Firmware Engineering

Allegion provides college students with challenging summer internship assignments and valuable exposure to our company's senior leaders. Through meaningful work projects, our interns are empowered to build diverse skill sets and a strong foundation for a successful and fulfilling career.

Perform engineering design, testing, and documentation of embedded software and associated support tools. Execute development tasks assigned by lead project engineer. Communicate status of development activities to lead project engineer.


  • Learns established engineering processes, standards, methods, and procedures needed to accomplish assigned tasks within discipline.

  • Builds and develops work practices and skills.

  • Ability to collaborate and work with a team environment.

  • Ability to relate to others resourcefully and with flexibility.

  • Willingness to face the unexpected.

  • Responsible for tasks within a project with clearly defined steps. Generally relating to a single application or product.

  • Interact with immediate team and project team members.

  • Execute projects an assignments as assigned by manager.

  • Has basic interpersonal, written communication and presentation skills.

  • Works with senior engineers to establish the proper approach to a problem as well as understanding what is important.

  • Basic Understanding in programming, compilers and debugging tools.

  • Able to perform basic code design and implementation from data sheets and requirements.


  • Pursuing a bachelor's or master’s degree in Engineering.

  • Sophomore year must be complete by the start of the summer internship program for undergraduate candidates.

  • Minimum 3.0 on 4.0 GPA scale.

  • Demonstrated leadership ability and initiative (e.g. school club officer, sports team captain, resident advisor, etc. or exceptional leadership on school/work projects).
