Eaton Corporation Technical Communications Intern (Summer 2018) in Galesburg, Michigan
Eaton's Vehicle Group is seeking a Technical Communications Intern for the Summer of 2018. This position will be located at Eaton's Vehicle Group Headquarters in Galesburg, Michigan.
The Technical Communications Intern will help develop and manage service and/or training content for Eaton and Eaton-Cummins Automated Transmission Technologies products. Depending on your area of interest and degree focus you could help manage or edit product literature, computer based training (CBT) modules, translation projects, training videos, or product presentations. You'll gain exposure to Eaton and EC JV products, as well as service, sales, engineering, business, marketing and communications functions during your internship and have opportunities for team and individual projects. You will get the opportunity to refine your communication, project- and time-management skills and will end your internship with a finished project (or projects) for your portfolio that will be actual solutions used by Eaton customers.
Actively enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in technical communications, writing, graphic design, instructional design, user experience design, automotive technology, or a related field.
Must currently have a 3.0 GPA or higher (please do not round).
Must be legally authorized to work in the US on a permanent basis without company sponsorship
Familiarity with some design and desktop publishing software (e.g. Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Framemaker) and/or learning development software (e.g. Adobe Captivate or Storyline) is preferred.
Experience with DITA, XML, content or component management systems, and an understanding of basic HTML are all a plus.
Experience using Microsoft Office (e.g. Word, PowerPoint) is necessary as are strong communication skills--both verbal, written, or through visual design.
