nAbout the Northern Trust Intern Program: n

n

The Northern Trust Intern Program is a highly competitive ten-week summer program focused on hiring rising senior level undergraduate students. The program provides an opportunity to work in a fast paced and inclusive culture, while utilizing individual skills and abilities to make a positive impact on the company. While interns work directly with their team on day-to-day tasks, they also benefit from having a mentor, participating in professional development activities, and attending senior management informational presentations. Team placements are based on the candidate's experience, skill set and interest.

nAbout Wealth Management: n

n

Wealth Management provides investing, banking, trust and estate services, wealth planning and family office services to successful individuals, families, foundations, endowments and privately held businesses through a network of U.S. offices, and is extending its reach into international markets.

n

nExamples of prior responsibilities (note: work varies by team placement):n

n

n

n

+ Assist relationship managers in servicing clients;

n

+ Run performance metric reports and provide analysis on portfolios; and

n

+ Research and marketing activities to support the sales teams with identifying target market audience.


n

n

nExamples of learning objectives (vary by team placement, but may include the following): n

+ Obtain broad exposure to the Wealth Management service team model;

n

+ Gain exposure in client servicing aspects; and

n

+ Understand the foundation of portfolio management and the asset allocation process.

nInternship Programming: n

Our intern program includes many activities to further your professional development and provide you with networking opportunities. Your internship experience may include:

+ Meaningful work assignments to assist with real-world application of learned concepts;

n

+ An appointed mentor to provide guidance and an understanding of Northern Trust culture;

n

+ Learning and development opportunities, including business related workshops and weekly "Lunch & Learn" sessions;

n

+ Professional and social networking opportunities with various levels of Northern Trust employees, including access to senior leaders across the business;

n

+ Group presentation to senior managers on an assigned business topic to enhance research and public speaking skills;

n

+ Goal setting and job expectations discussion along with a performance evaluation; and

n

+ Community service team-building event (past events have included packing food at non-profit food distribution center, beautification of a community garden, and building literacy kits for children).

Interns possess the following attributes (varies by role): n

n

n

+ Pursuit of a Bachelor's degree from a four year-college or university from almost any field of study with preference for Business, Finance, Accounting or related majors;

n

+ A minimum of a 3.0 cumulative undergraduate GPA;

n

+ Strong oral and written communication skills;

n

+ Advanced level of competency with Microsoft Office Suite of products;
