nAbout the Northern Trust Intern Program: n

The Northern Trust Intern Program is a highly competitive ten-week summer program focused on hiring rising senior level undergraduate students. The program provides an opportunity to work in a fast paced and inclusive culture, while utilizing individual skills and abilities to make a positive impact on the company. While interns work directly with their team on day-to-day tasks, they also benefit from having a mentor, participating in professional development activities, and attending senior management informational presentations. Team placements are based on the candidate's experience, skill set and interest.

nAbout Corporate & Institutional Services (C&IS):n

Corporate & Institutional Services provides a comprehensive array of asset servicing and asset management solutions to institutional clients worldwide. Services provided include trust, custody, treasury, banking and analytical/reporting services.

n

Beyond these, our Global Fund Services (GFS) group specializes in a number of additional services specific to the investment management community, including middle office operations outsourcing, fund accounting, fund administration, and transfer agency services.

n

nExamples of prior responsibilities (note: work varies by team placement): n

n

n

n

+ Provide reporting and calculations on NAV (net asset value) related activities;

n

+ Reconcile, review, process and control trades; and

n

+ Accounting, reporting and preparation of close packages for several funds.


n

n

nExamples of learning objectives (vary by team placement, but may include the following):n

n

n

n

+ Receive an introduction into the fund administration industry, learning about the needs of investment managers, and how Northern Trust supports those needs; and

n

+ Understand the basics of investment company accounting and Hedge Fund financial reporting.

n

nInternship Programming:n

Our intern program includes many activities to further your professional development and provide you with networking opportunities. Your internship experience will include:

+ Community service team-building event (past events have included packing food at non-profit food distribution center, beautification of a community garden, and building literacy kits for children).

Interns possess the following attributes:

n

n

n

+ Pursuit of a Bachelor's degree from a four year-college or university with a Business, Economics, Finance, Accounting or related major;

n

+ A minimum of a 3.0 cumulative undergraduate GPA;

n

+ Experience and/or interest with the alternative asset business (e.g., hedge funds, private equity funds), securities, or financial markets;

n

+ Strong oral and written communication skills;

n

+ Analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills;

n

+ Adaptability and ability to learn quickly in high-pressure environments;

n

+ Leadership, teamwork and client servicing ability;

n

+ An understanding of diversity and value of inclusion; and

n

+ Knowledge and interest in Northern Trust and the financial services industry.
