Job Description SummaryTransamerica internships are short-term work experiences for a designated period of time that allow college students the opportunity to observe and participate in the professional work environment, to explore how his/her interests relate to possible careers, and to gain practical experience in an industry relating to their field of study. There are currently 2 paid internship openings in this group. Intern(s) will work a minimum of 20 hours per week during the Spring & Fall 2018 Semesters & 40 hours per week during the Summer 2018 Semester. Aegon Global Technologies is a 24/7, 352 days per year group, so we can be flexible on when you work. All applicants must be located within driving distance of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.Job Description
Responsibilities:The Intern(s) will participate in a development team rotation. The interns will be allocated to various development teams throughout the course of the internship, with the main focus being in our Object Oriented programming, Web and database oriented technologies and third party application support with rotational focus on other aspects including miscellaneous project involvement. While working with the different teams the intern will be expected to conduct research, analysis, and production work which may include customer contact and utilizing newly developed technical skills.
Technical and Soft Skills to gain/improve throughout Internship:
Communication; both written and spoken
Report writing in SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
Problem investigation and resolution
Support and modification of third party tools
To qualify for internship, applicants must be currently enrolled full-time at a college or university pursuing a specific degree program. Internships are not available for students who have completed their college education or who will graduate prior to the conclusion of the internship.
Strong written & verbal communications communication skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel
Understanding of relational databases and query language
Must be eligible to work in the US and not require sponsorship for Visa Employment Status after graduation
Must be located within driving distance of Cedar Rapids, IA.
