Summer Intern - Finance (Accounting)

The Corporate Consolidations and External Reporting teams are responsible for the global month-end close process of Allegion and the preparation of the Company’s financial statements. Consolidations manages the close process and reviews the monthly trial balance submissions of Allegion’s +100 reporting entity submissions into our Hyperion consolidation and reporting system. External Reporting is responsible for the Company’s accounting policies and completion of the form 10-Q and form 10-K to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). This role will have visibility to how the global close process functions from closing each month’s accounting books, to executive management’s reviews of the results, to the release of results to investors and filing with the SEC.


  • Assist in month-end closing for various Corporate entities, including journal entries for Corporate and inter-company debt, pension, and stock based compensation

  • Review individual entity results and balance sheet balances for accuracy and partner with local finance and accounting teams globally in order to understand the financial data

  • Complete tie-out of various footnote disclosures with the quarterly 10-Q SEC filing

  • Track status/completion of foreign legal entities filing requirements

  • Prepare annual 401k financial statements and assist in subsequent audit

  • Various other projects as necessary


  • Pursuing a bachelor's or master’s degree in accounting

  • Junior year must be complete by the start of the summer internship program for undergraduate candidates.

  • Minimum 3.0 on 4.0 GPA scale.

  • Demonstrated leadership ability and initiative (e.g. school club officer, sports team captain, resident advisor, etc. or exceptional leadership on school/work projects).

  • Strong aptitude for systems and MS Office (particularly Excel)

  • Self-motivated, eager to learn, and strong work ethic

  • Strong analytical skills and comfort with complex data
